MK Concrete Construction recently received an ACI Excellence in Concrete Merit Award from the National Capital Chapter for Landover Logistics Center in Landover, MD.  This project involved the demolition of two existing cold storage/office buildings and the construction of a new 360,000 SF tilt-up concrete panel structure with interior steel columns/roof truss/roof decking.  This speculative warehouse has a consistent interior height of 32 feet.  Judging was based primarily on creative, innovative, aesthetic, and imaginative use of concrete.  The judges' panel was composed of representatives from all aspects of the concrete construction industry.  The American Concrete Institute (ACI) is a leading authority and resource worldwide for the development and distribution of consensus-based standards, technical resources, educational programs, and proven expertise for individuals and organizations involved in concrete design, construction, and materials, who share a commitment to pursuing the best use of concrete.
